20151207110517Tomorrow and for the next three days the emotions of the great Badminton will be on stage in Milan, where the 15th Edition of the Yonex Italian International 2015 will start. Milan Palabadminton - Via Cimabue, will gather the best world athletes striving to win the five titles at stake: men’s singles, women’s’ singles, men’s double, women’s double and mixed double.

Italy may count on 16 athletes: the young players Matteo Bellucci, Fabio Caponio, Giulia Fiorito, Silvia Garino, Lisa Iversen, Lukas Osele, Marah Punter, Andreas Stocker, Kevin Strobl, Giovanni Toti, the 2 Sparring partners of the National teams Indra Bagus Ade Chandra and Wisnu Haryo Putro, plus Manuel Battista, Gloria Pirvanescu, Megumi Sonoda and Lidia Rainero.

The men’s singles main draw seems particularly interesting, because of the presence of Marc Zwieble, Germany, number 17 of the world ranking: he could meet already in the quarter of finals Andre Kurniawan Tedjono, Indonesia, (2014 Champion and finalist of 2013 edition).,Indra Bagus Ade Chandra, the Italian Sparring partner (finalist of the 2014 edition and Winner in 2013’s), the only Italian player in the main draw waiting to qualify, will play as  tournament outsider

The women’s singles are characterized by the presence of the 2014 edition finalist, Beatriz Corrales, number 22 of the world ranking. She will immediately challenge the eighteen year old   Lisa Iversen, the only Italian player of the main draw, for the moment. Competing for the title against the Spanish champion will be the mission of both Karin Schaase, Germany and Petya Nedelcheva, Bulgaria, ranked third last year.

The two Polish players Adam Cwalina and Przemyslaw Wacha, number 22 of the world ranking, winner pair of the 2013 edition who did not participate in the 2014’s, are back to the Yonex Italian International this year. Another Danish pair Mathias Christiansen and David Daugaard will try to move them from the top of the podium. Three pairs will defend the Italian colours: Indra Bagus Ade Chandra and Wisnu Putro, Lukas Osele and Kevin Strobl and  Matteo Bellucci and Fabio Caponio.

The two Stoeva sisters (Stefani and Gabriela) will be starring in the tournament after winning the gold medal in the Baku European Games, last June.  The two Bulgarian athletes, number 12 in the world ranking, know  they will not face an easy challenge in Italy considering the very high level of their opponents i.e. the two Dutch  outgoing champions Samantha Barning and Iris Tabelling, and the two Russians,  Ekaterina Bolotova and Evgeniya Kosetskaya, semifinalists in 2014. For Italy, Silvia Garino and Lisa Iversen, Giulia Fiorito and Marah Punter, Gloria Pirvanescu and Megumi Sonoda will make up the three pairs to take the field.

Following the tradition of the great European Badminton, the mixed double will speak only one language: Danish. The favorite players since the beginning are Niclas Nohr and Sara Thygesen indeed, they won the Golden medal at Baku European Games and are number 39 of the world ranking. Two pairs of fellow countrypersons Mathias Christiansen and Lena Grebak and Kasper Antonsen and Amanda Madsen appear to be their most threatening opponents. The main draw also shows for the moment the Italian pair made by Kevin Strobl and MarahPunter.

The CSI (Centro Sportivo Italiano) will participate with an exhibition stand to promote international projects and present the International Volunteering Sports Activity. On Thursday at 9.30 a.m. the  "Exchange for the World/ Scambio per il Mondo” initiative will take place with the participation of the Italian athletes who will take the floor to promote sports volunteering activities.

So, the Yonex Italian International 2015 will start tomorrow with 50 matches of the qualification draws which will attribute all the positions to be covered in the main draws.
